Terms of Service

Last updated: October 5, 2026

These terms explain how Tutorizer works and what we expect from each other. We've kept the language as plain as we can.

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Tutorizer (“Tutorizer”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, buying a plan, or using our website, arcade or tutoring sessions, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Tutorizer.

You must be at least 18 to create a parent account or agree to these terms. Children can use Tutorizer only under the supervision and permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on their behalf and is responsible for their use.

2. What Tutorizer is

Tutorizer offers a learning arcade, lessons and homework tools, and small-group and private online tutoring in math for children in Kindergarten to Grade 8. Students up to Grade 12 can use the arcade and daily challenges. Tutoring sessions are delivered online by tutors who use Tutorizer, usually over a video meeting.

Tutorizer supports a child's learning. It is not a school, and we do not provide formal grades, credentials or report cards for school purposes.

We work to help children improve, but we do not promise any particular result, grade or test score. Progress depends on many things, including the child's effort and practice.

3. Accounts

  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password and your child's login details private. You are responsible for activity on accounts you create or manage.
  • Parents manage their children's accounts. Please choose a first name or nickname, not a full name, as a child's display name.
  • Tell us right away if you think an account has been used without permission.
  • Tutor accounts are by invitation only. Tutors must follow any additional rules we give them.

4. Plans, billing and payments

We offer tutoring in monthly plans, a 3-month plan, and add-on sessions for existing members. The current plans and prices are shown on our pricing page. Prices are in Canadian dollars, and applicable taxes are added where required.

Toughest Topics is a fixed program of 16 live classes over eight weekends, paid in two monthly payments of $320 (see the pricing page). It ends after the second payment and does not renew by itself.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By buying a plan you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method. Monthly plans renew automatically each month, and the 3-month plan renews automatically every 3 months, until you cancel (see Cancellations and refunds below). The 3-month plan is paid upfront for the three months.

We may change prices or plans. A change applies to your next billing period, and we will give you notice before it affects you.

Sessions included in a plan are meant to be used within that plan's billing period. You can book and manage them from your parent dashboard.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Cancelling a single session. You can cancel a session up to 24 hours before it starts, and we will give you a session credit to use later. Less than 24 hours before, the session cannot be cancelled and counts as used.

Cancelling your plan. Plans renew automatically. To avoid being charged for the next billing cycle, cancel at least 48 hours before your renewal date, which is shown in your dashboard. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep your sessions through the end of the period you have already paid for. If you miss the cut-off, the next cycle will be charged and is non-refundable, but you can cancel again after it renews to stop the cycle after that.

Fees for a billing period that has already begun are generally non-refundable. We may offer a refund or credit at our discretion, for example if we cancel a session, if there is a billing error, or in other fair circumstances. To ask, email contact@tutorizer.ca.

If you miss a session, we are not required to give a refund or make-up session, but please contact us and we will try to help. Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law.

6. Tutoring sessions and conduct

  • Sessions are held online. Please make sure your child has a working device, internet connection and a quiet space. We recommend that a parent or another adult be nearby for younger children.
  • Everyone must be respectful. We may remove a participant who is disruptive, abusive or unsafe, and we may end a session without a refund if that happens.
  • Tutorizer does not record sessions. Please do not record, screenshot or share a session, or other children's images or voices, without permission from everyone involved.
  • Group sessions include other children. Do not share other participants' personal information.
  • Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled by us in some cases, for example if a tutor is unavailable. We will tell you as soon as we can.

7. Coins, avatars and rewards

Coins, experience points, avatars, items and other rewards are part of the game. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and are not property you own. We may change, reset or remove them, for example to fix errors, prevent cheating or update the game.

8. Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • break the law or use Tutorizer to harm, harass or bully anyone;
  • share inappropriate, hateful or unsafe content in messages or anywhere on the service;
  • try to access someone else's account or information, or to break or bypass our security;
  • cheat, use bots or exploit bugs in the games, or interfere with the service or other users;
  • copy, scrape or resell our content, questions or software without our written permission;
  • pretend to be someone else, or let someone else use your account to avoid these rules.

9. Friends and messages between students

Students can add friends in their grade and message them. These rules apply to every student, and parents are responsible for helping their children follow them.

  • Only add people you know. A friend is added by typing their exact username, and they must accept. Friends are in your grade (in high school, Grades 9 and 10 together and Grades 11 and 12 together). Do not ask strangers for their username or share yours with people you do not know.
  • Be kind. No bullying, teasing, threats, hateful or unsafe messages, and no pressuring anyone to do something they do not want to do.
  • Keep personal details private. Do not share phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, passwords, photos or links. We remove phone numbers, email addresses and web links from messages automatically, but you should not try to share them in other ways.
  • Do not use messages for anything else. No advertising, spam, chain messages, cheating help, or trying to move a conversation to another app.
  • Groups and competitions. Groups are for friends. Play fairly: do not cheat, use bots, or try to make your score look bigger than it is. We may remove scores, groups or accounts that do.
  • Tell someone. If a message makes you uncomfortable, use Block & Report in the conversation, or tell a parent or guardian. Blocking also ends the friendship. Parents can write to contact@tutorizer.ca at any time.

What we may do. When someone blocks and reports another account, an administrator may read the conversation between them to decide what to do, and we record that we looked. We may remove messages, end a friendship, limit messaging, or suspend or end an account that breaks these rules or puts a child at risk, and where required we may tell a parent or the authorities. Our Privacy Policy explains how messages and friend lists are handled, including that a parent can see the friend list of a child under 13.

Tutorizer is a place for learning. We do not promise that every message will be reviewed before or after it is sent, so please report anything that worries you.

10. Our content and yours

The Tutorizer website, games, questions, lessons, designs and software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may use them for personal, non-commercial learning while you have an account, but you may not copy or reuse them otherwise.

Without our written permission, please do not sell, share or post our questions, lessons or answer keys on other sites or in social media; use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to collect content from Tutorizer; copy our software or try to get around the security of the site, including the protections on tests and quizzes; or remove copyright or ownership notices.

You keep ownership of what you send us, such as messages, answers and bug reports. You give us permission to use it as needed to run, support and improve Tutorizer, as described in the Privacy Policy.

If you believe something on Tutorizer copies your work or breaks your rights, email contact@tutorizer.ca with what you believe is copied, where it appears on Tutorizer, and how we can reach you. We will review it and act promptly.

Some content, including session notes, reports, recommendations and reading passages, is drafted with AI tools and may contain errors. Please use it as a helpful guide, not as professional advice or an official assessment.

11. Third-party services

Tutorizer relies on other services, such as Stripe for payments, Google for sign-in and storage, and Zoom or a similar tool for video sessions. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for them.

12. Availability and changes to the service

We try to keep Tutorizer running smoothly, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. We may add, change or remove features, games or content, and we may pause the service for maintenance.

13. Disclaimers

Tutorizer is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not make promises about results, accuracy or uninterrupted service, and we disclaim any warranties that the law lets us disclaim.

14. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Tutorizer and the people who work for us are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) or other laws that cannot be waived.

15. Suspending or ending accounts

You can stop using Tutorizer at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end an account if these terms are broken, if payment fails, or if we need to protect children or the service. We will tell you why where we reasonably can.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. If you keep using Tutorizer after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel your plan and stop using the service.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Ontario, except where the law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

18. General

These terms and the Privacy Policy are our complete agreement with you about Tutorizer. If part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a term right away, that does not mean we give it up. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else.
