How it works

Your child plays. Their tutor sees how it went.

Your child plays math games and the tutor sees how it went. In a small group, they work through the hardest concepts of the grade together. One-on-one tutoring is built around what they are learning at school.

What happens after you sign up

  1. Your child plays

Your child logs into an arcade of math games. They earn coins, unlock avatar items and chase high scores. There is no test.

  2. The tutor reviews the results

The games keep track of which topics and question types your child struggles with. Their tutor sees this before the session.

  3. Small-group sessions

Your child meets online with a tutor and a small group of up to 4 kids from the same grade. Together they work through the hardest concepts of the grade, step by step, over eight weekends.

Two views of the same game

Your child sees a score and some coins. The tutor sees which topics are solid and which need work.

That way the session starts with the real problem instead of ten minutes of figuring out what to work on.

Common questions

How many kids are in a group?
Groups have up to 4 students, usually 3 or 4, so the tutor can help each one and the kids still get to work together.
What is the difference between small group and homework help?
In a small group, your child works through the hardest concepts of their grade, step by step, with other children from the same grade, over eight weekends. Homework help is one-on-one and personalised: the tutor works on whatever your child is doing in school right now, such as tonight's homework or a test coming up, fills any gaps, and helps them move forward from there.
When can my child join a group?
You choose a weekly group time with a tutor. A group takes new children until the start of its third session, so nobody joins more than two lessons behind. After that, new children join another group, or start a new one. A grade usually takes about 6 to 12 months to complete.
What if none of the group times suit us?
Join the waiting list for your child's grade and tell us which days suit you. If a tutor is free then, we open a group at that time and email you. Joining the waiting list is free. Private tutoring can be booked at almost any time.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Monthly plans have no long-term commitment or cancellation fees. Cancellations need to be made before your next billing cycle.
